Greece

After the last day of school, I hopped on a plane for one last European adventure as a resident of Germany.

Mah gurl Chelsea met me in Athens where our adventures began.

From there, we took a ferry to an island called Milos for two days. On day 1, we explored Plaka (the historic neighborhood) while sweating our faces off. Turns out hardly anyone goes up there mid-afternoon like we did because they’re all swimming or inside by a fan or air-con.

Plaka was stunning, but nothing beats the second day. For day 2, we did a 10 hour boat tour around the entire island. We stopped at 5 beautiful places to swim in the completely clear water, and saw the incredible diversity of the island. I think I stepped on a sea urchin but I didn’t even care (until the splinters started hurting the next day).

Our guides made breakfast and lunch for us with all natural foods and it was quite a spread. Lunch was one of the best meals we had in Greece. Chelsea and I made friends with a Serbian couple who were spending 10 whole days on this island.

Our third and final stop was the famous Santorini. You know those blue roofed dome buildings you see when you Google “Santorini”? Sometimes those types of photos over-exaggerate the beauty of a tourist spot, but this place was truly remarkable. My pictures don’t do it justice.

We went to the Red beach and a Black beach called Kamari. At both beaches, the rocks were really painful to walk on and the water wasn’t as perfect as it was in Milos, but it was still cool and pretty.

A couple of Chelsea’s friends coincidentally were in Santorini at the same time we were, so we met up with them for dinner in Oia. They showed us around first, namely to the iconic view of the blue domes and some other nice views. Oia is famous for its views of the sunset, so they reserved a sea-side dinner table at the bottom of town – down over 200 cobblestone stairs. There’s an option to ride a donkey while going up…but we opted out because we feel bad for the donkeys. After the sunset, Chelsea’s friends took us to a secret cake shop and to their adorable Airbnb where we sat on the porch to enjoy wine, dessert, a view, and the company.

And now, here I am, in the USA! I’m back!
